Brad Daughertyis one of the poker players who represents the generation that came through the ranks of professional casino gamblers in the more respectable live tournament circuit of the seventies and nineties. With an appearance and manner more reminiscent of a bank manager than a professional poker player, Brad Daugherty earned a reputation as a classic percentages player who was famed for his ability to read his opposition. Daughertybecame a professional poker player at eighteen, whilst working in construction. His work took him to the outback of Nevada, and eventually Brad found himself passing some time playing Texas Hold'em poker in the casinos of Reno, Nevada, Brad found himself enjoying the game intensely and discovered that he had a particular talent for playing Texas Hold'em. Even though, Brad was a late developer and he never won his first tournament till 1987. Brad Dougherty's principal claim to fame is winning the World Series of Poker in 1991 and with it the tournament's first $1,000,000 prize The World Series of Poker in 1991 was the only major prize that Brad Dougherty ever took home, and represents more than 70% of his total career earnings to date. YetBrad's experience and strategy knowledge is highly sought after by novice and veteran Texas hold'em poker players alike. He has published two books on the game of poker, written in collaboration with his good friend and fellow poker professional, Tom McEvoy. The books, entitled Championship Satellite Strategy and No-Limit Texas Hold'em for New Players have become 'must reads' for any Texas hold'em player.
