Rules of Play – The Turn

Rules of Play the Turn card (Fourth Street)

After the flop, the dealer will burn the top card of the deck again to prevent cheating or accidental exposure of the top card. Once the top card has been burnt, the dealer then deals one card that is placed face up on the table. This is known as the Turn card, or alternatively "Fourth Street". The turn card is then added to the community cards for use by all players.

After the turn card has been dealt, the players remaining in the hand make another round of bets. Again the betting always begins with the small blind or, if he is out of the hand, the first player to his left. Players can either check, call, raise, re-raise or fold when it is their turn to bet. Once this sequence has been completed, it's time to deal the fifth and final card or "go down to the river.
